MyKolab Receives Largest Update Ever, Rebranded As “Kolab Now”

Since its launch in 2013 MyKolab, the Swiss security- and privacy-focused groupware-as-a-service, has been used by tens of thousands of people around the world to collaborate in confidence. Continual improvements to infrastructure were made, but core functionality remained essentially the same. Until now.

Today Kolab Systems unveiled a major upgrade for all MyKolab users that is based on the recently released Kolab Enterprise 14.

The improvements include the introduction of an integrated note-taking application, allowing users to attach notes to emails or keep them in dedicated notebooks. Also unveiled was extensive tagging support for emails, ToDos and notes, all of which may now be labeled and searched with tags.

Calendaring also received attention. The new Quick View icon allows users to focus on a specific calendar or To Do list, with a single click returning them to the full view. A new set of dynamic calendars are also available, including a calendar that shows birthdays of contacts in the addressbook and calendars that pull pending and rejected event invitations together into one place.

To complement the feature upgrades, the Kolab web applications have been revamped with a beautifully crisp look and feel, accompanied by numerous usability improvements.

Customer data and email addresses were fully preserved during this upgrade, demonstrating the capacity of Kolab Enterprise to gracefully perform major system updates even at cloud scale.

To reflect the significance of these steps forward, the MyKolab service has been rebranded as Kolab Now and a new website for the service was unveiled at

This sets the stage for an exciting 2015, with additional feature and service enhancements already in the works for Kolab Now.
